Planning & Preparation

In 1970, Mrs. Aniceta Perez, then president of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) at Our Lady of Hope Parish, asked permission from the Vicariate of Sta. Rita to open a pre-school. With the positive support from Our Lady of Hope Parish priest, Rev. Fr. Marcelino Montemayor, the planning and preparation for the establishment of the pre-school began about the summer of 1970.

The Establishment and Development of the School from 1970-1980

June 1970: The school was permitted to operate at 137 Road 1 Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City. Rev. Fr. Marcelino Montemayor was the first School Director. March 1971: The first commencement exercise was held. September 1975: Rev. Fr. Montemayor was replaced by Msgr. Reynaldo Y. Celso. The pre-school was transferred immediately at the ground floor of the multipurpose hall of the new parish church at 107 Road 3, Bagong Pag-asa.

Years of Reorganization and Blossoming as Pre-school from 1981-1990

June 1981: Mrs. Fenny B. Mascarina was appointed by Msgr. Celso to be the Principal. School programs and activities were reorganized. The school started to blossom.

The years of Closure and Reopening from 1991- 2000

1991: Rev. Fr. Francisco M. Ungria, Jr. was installed as the third Parish Priest and School Director. The construction of the Bahay Pag-asa Formation Center at 137 Road 1 begun. With the place under construction, all the activities and livelihood programs of the parish were transferred to the parish social hall, and with that the school was temporarily closed. 1991-1994: The Bahay Pag-asa Formation Center was under construction. 1994-1995: The school was reopened in school year 1995. The school was back on its original place at 137 Road 1 Bagong Pag-asa. The School Director was Rev. Fr. Francisco Ungria, Jr. and the School Principal was Mrs. Carmen Ramos. April 1995. Fr. Roy Badilles was installed as the fourth Parish Priest and School Director with Mrs. Luz Magallanes as the School Principal. October 1995: The Our Lady of Hope Parochial School was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission. January 1997: Mrs. Fenny B. Mascarina became the School Principal.

The Years of the Foundation of the Grade School Department, Growth and Development- OLHPS from 2001-2010

December 2001: Rev. Fr. Arnel F. Recinto was installed as the fifth Parish Priest and School Director. He introduced the triple thrust of the school formation: Spirituality, Discipline, and Academic Excellence. January 2003: Our Lady of Hope Parochial School was granted permission to operate officially by the Department of Education, with government permit (NCR) No. P-014 s. 2003. 2003-2004: Grades 1 and 2 were opened during this year. May 2004: Miss Villa Eden C. Barcelon was installed as the School Principal. April 2006: Rev. Fr.  Alfredo A. Pascual, Jr. was installed as the sixth Parish Priest and School Director. March 2007: First Commencement Exercises for the grade six pupils.

Years of Unification and Spiritual Formation

 2011-2012:Implementation of K-12 Curriculum. Strengthening of spiritual formation for both pupils and personnel by having regular masses, quarterly confessions, recollections, retreats and other spiritual exercises. April 2012: Appointment of Rev. Fr. Raymond Joseph L. Arre as DOCES Superintendent and School Director. The implementation of One Vision, One Educational System, One Curriculum was the direction of the DOCES. July 2012: “ChiKahan” Program was launched through the initiative of Sr. Maria Leah Japos, PVMI.  2012-2013: Implementation of unified action plans, system and procedures, code of discipline for pupils, and academic policies.

DOCES 1st General Assembly

May 2013: DOCES 1st General Assembly was held with the theme: “ONE FAITH, ONE VISION, ONE MISSION”. Project “SPIRIT” (System wide Preparation for Instructional Renewal and Integrated Transformation) was launched, which includes the shift from quarterly to trimester scheme. May 2014: DOCES 2nd General Assembly was held with the theme: “Teachers Be Brave,Teach as Jesus Did” Rev. Fr. Raymond L. Arre initiated the 3-year transition program, “P.A.T.H.” (P-Performance, A-Academics, T-Transformation, and H-Holiness).

Tagline of the DOCES Schools

April 2015: P.O.P.E. in Cubao (Papal Orientation on Parochial Education): “Forming Faith, Building Future” was launched and became the tagline of the DOCES Schools.

DOCES 3rd General Assembly & CVIF-Dynamic Learning Program Implementation

May 2015: DOCES 3rd General Assembly was held with the theme: “Learning at the Margins: Encountering Jesus in the Year of the Poor”. June 2015: Appointment of Mrs. Haidee R.Viernes as School Principal. 2015-2016: Implementation of the CVIF-Dynamic Learning Program in the intermediate level. “Huwag Kang Magnakaw” Advocacy of Fr. Atilano “Nonong” Guzman Fajardo, C.M., Minister of Public Affairs Ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila was launched.

Academic Year 2017 – 2020

May 2016: DOCES 4th General Assembly was held with the theme: “One Sacrifice, One Family: Embracing God’s Infinite Mercy”. January 2017: Parochial Schools Month was launched. May 2017: DOCES 5th General Assembly was held with the theme: “Parishes and Schools: Community of Faith,  Learning,  and Service”. May 2018: DOCES 6th General Assembly was held with the theme: “DOCES Parochial Schools: Teachers of Faith, Bearers of Love for New Evangelization”. Triathlon of Learning Festivals was launched. Program CICLES (Create an Integral Catholic Learning Environment in Schools) was launched. FIAT Journal was introduced.  May 2019: DOCES 7th General Assembly was held with the theme: “Empowered Young People: Ignite, Instruct, Inspire”. Integration of JEEPGY (Justice and Peace, Ecological Integrity, Engaged Citizenship, Poverty Reduction, Gender Equality, and Youth Empowerment) Advocacy in school programs and activities. Spiral Prayers were introduced.

Pandemic Year

DOCES Cluster Assembly was held with the theme: “DOCES SCHOOLS: UNDER THE SHADOW OF COVID 19 ”. DOCES Flexible Learning Option Workboxes (F.L.O.W) was introduced to address school operations under the pandemic school year. Distance Learning was implemented. DOCES Unified Conduct Criteria and Core Values Award were implemented. OLHPS celebrated its 50th Founding Anniversary. June 2021: DOCES 9th General Assembly was held with the theme: “DOCES MAGISTERS: Sent to the Virtual Margins, Bringing the Gift of Hope”. AY 2022 – 2023: DOCES FlexBlend Instruction was introduced to bridge the learning gaps during the pandemic. DOCES FlexBlend Instruction was implemented. DOCES 10th General Assembly was held with the theme: “Crossing the threshold of Hope: Leading and Learning beyond COVID-19”.

Present…

2023-2024: Shift from Flex Blend to Full Face-to-Face Instruction and Introduction of Multi-Age Approach. New school logo was introduced. June 2023: DOCES 11th General Assembly was held with the theme: “Pilgrims of Hope: Learning Leaders Onward in Mission”.
